Based on some reports, a computer science exam paper was recently leaked in Karachi. This is a disconcerting reminder of the deep-rooted ‘cheating mafias’ that resurface every examination season. These syndicates operate with alarming efficiency, utilising social media platforms to circulate both question papers and solved keys, often minutes before the exams begin. This systemic failure does more than just facilitate academic dishonesty. It exposes a blatant lack of accountability within our examination boards. When these mafias openly challenge board officials, it signals that our educational integrity is under siege.

This culture of shortcuts undermines the merit of hardworking students and devalues the credibility of Pakistani qualifications on a global scale. The relevant authorities should move beyond mere rhetoric and take decisive action to dismantle these digital networks. If we fail to secure our examination process and hold the facilitators accountable, we are not just failing a test; we are failing the future of the country’s youth.
