HARIPUR: Chief whip of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) and MPA Akbar Ayub Khan on Thursday said that his party wanted the release of the party’s founder Imran Khan through an expedited legal process, and the membership campaign for his peaceful release would continue till the achievement of the objective.
He was talking to the party workers and supporters at the registration camp established here.He lamented that the date for hearing the cases of Imran Khan and his wife was delayed for months and years, which was an injustice. “We do not want authorities to immediately release Imran Khan tomorrow, but want them to follow and fulfill the legal procedures,” he said, adding that the delay in treatment of Imran Khan has caused him to lose an eye.
Talking about the overall economic situation of the country, the former minister said that the national economy has been destroyed to the level that the 140 million people in the country were living below the poverty line. “The prevailing socio-political and economic situation requires the authorities to sit and sort out the matters because the country and its institutions are ours,” he suggested.
