MANSEHRA: The Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Company (SNGPL) on Thursday sealed over a dozen compressed natural gas (CNG) stations for allegedly supplying gas to vehicles in violation of its orders.
“A team visited the city and its suburbs and, after sealing more than a dozen CNG stations, removed their meters, effectively blocking the gas supply system,” a local CNG station manager told reporters.
The SNGPL team, equipped with monitoring devices, inspected Abbottabad Road, Lari Adda, Karakoram Highway, Kashmir Road, and Shinkiari Road, sealing stations that were found supplying gas to vehicles in breach of official directives.
CNG stations in Mansehra and the rest of Hazara division have remained closed for the past two weeks, prompting drivers and motorists to stage rallies and demonstrations against the suspension of gas supply.
According to managers of CNG stations, who strictly complied with SNGPL orders and refrained from supplying gas during this period, the inspection team also disabled their systems by removing operational valves to ensure that no station could violate the directive.
An SNGPL official, when approached, said that gas supply to CNG stations in Mansehra would remain suspended until further orders.“I cannot give an exact reason for the suspension of gas supply to CNG stations here or say when it will be restored. However, those who violated our orders are being dealt with under the gas management system to ensure supply to domestic consumers,” he said.
