MINGORA: The Peshawar High Court (PHC), Mingora Bench, has issued a stay order until May 5, temporarily restraining the provincial government from bringing Saidu Sharif Hospital under the Medical Teaching Institution (MTI) system.

The bench heard a writ petition filed by members of civil society, including former nazim Saidu Sharif Dr Khalid Mahmood Khalid, Akhtar Hussain, Muhammad Ayub Mashwani, and others. The petition challenged the provincial government’s decision to place the Saidu Sharif Hospital under the MTI framework, arguing that the move could adversely affect public interest.

The petitioners were represented by Advocate Arshad Khan of the Supreme Court and Advocate Asif Iqbal.During the proceedings, the court directed the provincial government and relevant authorities to submit their replies and ordered that the hospital should not be brought under the MTI system until a final decision was made in the case. The court instructed all parties to submit detailed responses at the next hearing, scheduled for May 5.
