CHITRAL: The district administration of Lower Chitral launched a character-building curriculum at a ceremony held at the Town Hall Chitral here on Thursday.

Titled “Rosht Istari”, the curriculum was launched under the vision of Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem.

The event was attended by a large number of dignitaries, including DIG Malakand Division Syed Fida Hassan Shah as the chief guest. Other prominent attendees included Commandant Chitral Scouts Colonel Arsalan Abdul Majeed, DPO Riffat, Deputy Vice Chancellor University of Chitral Prof Dr Sanaullah, JI leader Maghfirat Shah, Qari Jamal Abdul Nasir of JUIF, DEO Female Mehrunnisa, and officials from the education department, as well as members of civil society.

Addressing the ceremony, the chief guest, Syed Fida Hassan Shah, appreciated the efforts of all those involved in developing the curriculum, saying that their academic and professional expertise had helped shape a syllabus in line with modern requirements. He expressed pride in being a Chitrali, describing the people of the region as patriotic and grateful.

He also recalled the establishment of Sayuj Public School in the 1980s by then deputy commissioner Javed Majeed, terming it a landmark achievement that played a key role in advancing education in Chitral.

Praising the initiative, he said the introduction of “Rosht Istari” for students of grades three to five was a commendable step that had won the hearts of the people. He assured full support for the initiative.

Speaking on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Rao Hashim Azeem said the primary objective of the curriculum was to instill values such as self-confidence, discipline, perseverance, intelligence, and religious harmony among students.
