LAHORE:The Punjab Assembly on Thursday unanimously passed a resolution paying tribute to efforts for mediation and a successful ceasefire in Iran–United States, Israel conflict.

The House acknowledged the outstanding diplomatic efforts of Field Marshal Asim Munir, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, and Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar.

The session, chaired by Deputy Speaker Malik Zaheer Iqbal Channar, began with a delay of one and a half hours. After the question hour and official business, Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Mian Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman moved the resolution to commend Pakistan’s successful diplomatic initiatives aimed at resolving the Middle East conflict. According to the text of the resolution, Pakistan’s leadership skillfully navigated complex diplomatic challenges with an effective strategy, helping to avert the threat of the Third World War. In recognition of these global peace efforts, it recommended that Field Marshal Asim Munir and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize. During the debate on the resolution, both government and opposition members praised Pakistan’s leadership for its successful diplomacy. Earlier, while participating in the post-budget debate, Mujtaba Shujaur Rehman and other government members stated that development expenditures during the third quarter of the current fiscal year are being used in a highly balanced manner. On the other hand, opposition members argued that a major portion of the budget is being spent only on Lahore. Before this, the opposition boycotted the proceedings of the House over the non-issuance of production orders for its detained members. After completing the agenda, the Panel of Chair adjourned the session until Monday.

Meanwhile, governor said the role of mediation between USA and Iran is Pakistan’s biggest diplomatic success since its formation. He expressed these views during a meeting with former chairmen of 25 union councils of Chakwal district, including others, led by former MNA Sardar Zulfiqar Dulah here at Governor’s House.
