LAHORE: Pakistan women team allrounder Ayesha Zafar has said that her main focus now is on developing skills and fitness.
In a candid PCB interview, Pakistan women’s cricketer Ayesha Zafar opened up about her impressive run in the recent South Africa series, where she emerged as the team’s highest scorer with 180 runs, and her renewed focus on skills and fitness in the ongoing Lahore training camp.
Zafar credited her coaches and the Karachi camp for preparing her to handle the pressure of returning to the national side after a two-year absence. She emphasized the team’s new mindset of playing aggressive, bold cricket, which she hopes will carry into the upcoming World Cup, Tri-Nation series, and Zimbabwe fixtures.
She highlighted the importance of partnerships, recalling how Sidra Amin’s guidance helped her push past a tricky phase during one innings. While batting remains her primary focus, Zafar also spoke about developing her off-spin bowling under the mentorship of Abdur Rehman, stressing the value of being an all-rounder in modern cricket. Reflecting on her time away from the team, Zafar admitted she once considered quitting, but the support of her family and friends kept her motivated.
