LAHORE: The Punjab Police Annual Inter-District Weightlifting Championship 2026 concluded at Qilla Gujjar Singh Police Lines, with the Lahore Sports Wing emerging as overall champions in both men’s and women’s categories.
The final standings saw Sports Wing Lahore clinch first place, followed by the Anti-Riot Force (ARF) in second and the Elite Force in third. The event also doubled as a platform for the New Talent Hunt Program, where several young officers impressed with their performances. Among the emerging names were Sharib, Roman, and Haider (ARF), Tahir (Investigation), and Ahmed (RMP).
Gold medals were secured by Shamim Haider (Sadr Division), Muniba Imtiaz, and Hira Khan (Telecommunications), while the prestigious Best Weightlifter award went to Bilal Khan, recognizing his outstanding strength and consistency.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by SP Lahore Police Headquarters Madam Munaza Karamat, who awarded medals and trophies to the winners. She was joined by DSP Sports Officer Mahmood-ul-Hassan, former international weightlifter Inspector Aqeel Javed Butt, and national coach Kashif Ali.
“This championship not only highlighted the competitive spirit of Punjab Police’s sports divisions but also showcased the emergence of new talent, reinforcing the department’s commitment to promoting fitness and athletic excellence among its officers,” stated Aqeel Javed Butt.
