SWABI: Tobacco growers here on Sunday asked the local lawmakers to raise their issues in the National Assembly and the Senate to help resolve them.
They had gathered at Jagnath Bridge in Yar Hussain town under the auspices of the Tobacco Action Committee.The event was addressed by the committee’s patron-in-chief Bakht Sher, Chairman Irshad Khan, General Secretary Nawab Ali, spokesperson Arshad Khan Advocate, Iqbal Khan, Pakistan People’s Party district president Ali Khan, Tobacco Dealers Association president Iftikhar Khan, Buland Iqbal Tarakai, Awami National Party provincial leader Ayaz Shoaib, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf district president Suhail Yousafzai, Jamaat-e-Islami leader Mian Iftikharuddin Bacha and other speakers. Addressing the gathering, Tobacco Action Committee Chairman Irshad Khan urged the Awami National Party (ANP) president Senator Aimal Wali Khan to take up the issues faced by tobacco growers in the Senate.
Tobacco Action Committee spokesperson Arshad Khan said the ANP had played a significant role in advancing the current movement of tobacco growers.He stressed that the tobacco issue should be addressed beyond political affiliations.
