LANDIKOTAL: The Jamaat-e-Islami (JI), Landikotal chapter, staged a protest at the Bacha Khan Chowk here on Sunday against inflation and rising prices of petroleum products and gas

Addressing the protesters, JI local activists Murad Hussain Afridi and Abdul Rauf Shinwari said the government had completely failed to control inflation and was focusing on corruption instead of addressing public issues.

They said that despite a significant decline in global oil prices, the people were not being provided with the expected relief. The speakers demanded more reduction in petrol and diesel prices as well as a cut in gas tariffs to ease the growing economic burden on ordinary citizens.

They said that a nationwide protest campaign was underway on the call of JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman to press the government for reducing petroleum prices and providing relief to the people. The leaders vowed that JI would continue its struggle for resolving people’s problems and ending inflation.
