LAHORE:Lahore Traffic Police has expanded commercial driving licence facilities for rickshaw drivers to three more centres, increasing the service points from one to four across the city.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Syed Abdul Raheem Shirazi said commercial licences can now be obtained from Manawan, Ichhra, Greater Iqbal Park and Wapda Town licensing centres. The new centres will provide the service from Thursday to Sunday. He said the move would make the licensing process easier and reduce travel and waiting time for drivers. QR code-based panic buttons will also be installed in rickshaws after drivers complete the licensing process to improve passenger safety. The CTO said awareness sessions on traffic laws, road safety and responsible driving would be organised for rickshaw drivers. He added that drivers would be eligible for a commercial licence 42 days after obtaining a learner’s permit.
