PESHAWAR: In view of the sudden increase in temperatures across Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the provincial government has announced summer vacations for universities and colleges across the province.
According to a notification issued by the Higher Education, Archives and Libraries Department, the Secretary of the department has approved the summer vacations for all public and private universities, higher education institutions (HEIs), and colleges in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Under the notification, summer vacations will be observed from June 15, 2026, to August 31, 2026, with both dates inclusive.
However, educational institutions will practically close down from tomorrow (Friday) as these institutions have already been observing a three-day weekly off. Meanwhile, some private educational institutions have also decided to end the so-called summer camps introduced for schools this year and go on summer vacations from tomorrow (Friday).
The elementary and secondary education department is yet to announce the end to the summer camp and go for summer vacations. The Higher Education Department has clarified that academic activities of four-year BS degree programmes will continue according to the academic calendars approved by the respective universities and colleges. Similarly, all scheduled examinations, including practical examinations, will be conducted as per the notified schedules of the relevant universities, colleges, and educational boards.
