American pop star Katy Perry and former Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau turned heads with their cosy red-carpet debut at a New York film festival.

Trudeau, who resigned as prime minister in March 2025, and Perry stepped out together at New York's Tribeca Film Festival on Monday, smiling and getting cozy for the cameras.

The former Canadian prime minister was accompanying Perry at the premiere of her concert film "Katy Perry: The Lifetimes Tour — Live from Paris".

Speaking to Entertainment Tonight, Trudeau said he has watched the show multiple times but only paid attention to Perry.

"I saw the show three times but I wasn't paying attention to anything but Katy, so I'm looking forward to seeing the show now for the first time," he quipped.

Trudeau also shared an Instagram post featuring pictures of the pair enjoying each other's company at the film festival.

"What a special night. Huge energy on screen, huge energy in the audience!," he wrote in the caption of the post.

"So happy to be by your side, Katy," he added.

The pair sparked romance rumors in July last year after they were seen walking on the streets of Montreal, Canada, and later had dinner together.

The American pop star made her Instagram romance official with the former Canadian prime minister on December 6, 2025, by posting photos of their vacation in Japan.

The high-profile romance began one month after Perry and her ex-fiancé, actor Orlando Bloom, called off their engagement in June 2025. The former pair also shares a five-year-old daughter, Daisy Bloom.

Trudeau was previously married to Sophie Grégoire, with the pair announcing their split in 2023 after an 18-year relationship.
