NOWSHERA: The Provincial Peace Jirga has demanded strict legal action against the alleged main culprit in the Postgraduate College Nowshera female students’ harassment scandal.

Speaking to the media, Chairman of the jirga Syed Kamal Shah Bacha said that the honour and dignity of hundreds of innocent female students, their parents, and the educational institution had been tarnished on the basis of an anonymous complaint. He termed the incident unacceptable and stressed that the law must take its course with full force.

He said that while the jirga has reservations over certain findings and decisions of the inquiry committee, one undeniable fact remains that hundreds of students, their families, and society at large have suffered collective harassment as a result of the controversy.

Bacha emphasized that no individual or group has the right to publicly level serious allegations against female students without presenting evidence before a competent legal or judicial forum. Such actions, he said, only create unrest, mistrust, and anxiety within society.
