LAHORE:Summer camps in public and private schools across Punjab began on Monday following the govt’s approval for curricular activities during the vacation period.
However, complaints have surfaced from parents and students that some private schools are making attendance mandatory despite the official notification clearly stating participation is voluntary and subject to parental consent. Some schools are also conducting exams in sheer violation of the notification. Concerns have also been raised that certain schools are conducting sessions beyond the permitted hours of 7:00am to 10:00am, as outlined in the School Education Department’s notification. Parents argue that such practices not only violate govt instructions but also add unnecessary pressure on students. The SED had directed schools to ensure indoor activities, provide clean drinking water, ventilation, and first aid facilities while exempting students from wearing uniform. The stakeholders demanded the dept to take action against those violating the notification.
