ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued two separate notifications for binding the International Non-Governmental Organizations (INGOs) to submit all required documents for registration to the tax department and will hold electronic monitoring of a few more products to plug tax leakages. The FBR on Thursday issued an S.R.O. 879(I)/2026 to notify amendments to the Income Tax Rules, 2002. Under these new rules, the International Non-Government Organization (INGO), required to be registered, shall provide the name of the taxpayer; business address; accounting period; phone number of business; principal business activity; name and address of principal officer or authorised representative of the company.
An INGO would also submit an authority letter for the appointment of the principal officer or authorised representative of the company for applying for registration in Pakistan; cell phone number of the principal officer or authorised representative of the company; email address of the principal officer or authorised representative of the company; and tax registration or incorporation document from the regulatory authorities concerned of the foreign country, FBR added.
In a separate notification, the FBR will electronically monitor manufacturing, production, and clearance processes of packaged milk, iron and steel, oil and ghee from their respective factories.The FBR has already given a deadline of June 15, 2026 to all manufacturers of bottled water to install an electronic production monitoring system.
