ISLAMABAD: The legal team of PTI founder chairman Imran Khan on Thursday filed a chamber appeal with the Supreme Court against the registrar office’s objections to the jailed leader’s transfer to a hospital.

Uzair Karamat Bhandari filed a chamber appeal against the order passed by the registrar office on May 19, returning an appeal filed against an Islamabad High Court (IHC) order relating to Imran’s medical examination and proposed transfer to Shifa International Hospital, citing procedural and technical objections.

The appeal said the registrar office ignored available records. It argued that the question of maintainability should be decided by a judicial forum rather than administratively.

The petitioner contended that the impugned order was against the applicable law and facts on the record and was, therefore, liable to be set aside. The appeal stated that the PTI founder was imprisoned at Adiala Jail and was not allowed to sign the vakalatnama (power of attorney).

The court was informed that lawyers reportedly made several attempts to obtain signatures but were denied access. “The power of attorney was also sent via courier, but jail authorities allegedly did not cooperate, says the appeal.
