LAHORE : A seminar titled ‘Contemporary Literary Research beyond the Chains of Theory’ was organised at the Government Graduate College for Women Sahiwal.
The keynote speaker, Dr Zahid Iqbal, Head of the Department of English at the University of Lahore, delivered an insightful lecture on the evolving nature of literary research and the contested role of theory in contemporary criticism.
In his address, Dr Zahid critically examined the rise of ‘theory’ in literary studies, its ideological orientations, internal disagreements among theorists, and the instability of key conceptual terms.
