LAHORE : A case has been registered against four officials of Gujjarpura police station over allegations of illegally stopping and harassing a citizen, while three of the accused policemen have been arrested.

The action was initiated after DIG Operations received a complaint from citizen Faisal Malik, who alleged that police officials had stopped and harassed him without lawful justification. Following an inquiry into the complaint, legal proceedings were launched against the officials. Initial investigations reportedly found that the policemen failed to provide any solid reason for stopping the citizen before the inquiry officer.

Woman tortured to death by husband

A 25-year-old woman allegedly died after being subjected to severe violence by her husband in Batapur. According to initial investigations, the incident took place following a domestic dispute between the couple. The suspect, identified as Nazar Abbas, allegedly assaulted his wife, Bisma, leaving her unconscious before fleeing the scene.

The victim was shifted to a hospital in critical condition for medical treatment but could not survive, police said. Upon receiving information about the incident, police reached the spot and shifted the body for post-mortem examination.

Man injures himself over financial issue

Police investigating a reported acid attack incident in Iqbal Town said initial findings suggested that the injured man had thrown a chemical substance on himself due to financial and domestic pressures.

According to a spokesperson for the DIG Operations Lahore, preliminary investigations found that no unidentified assailant was involved in the incident, contrary to earlier assumptions.

The injured man, identified as Farooq, reportedly admitted during initial questioning that he had taken the step himself because he was under severe stress caused by debt and household problems. Police said the victim told investigators that he had borrowed Rs100,000 and was unable to repay the amount.
