A man was shot dead inside his house during a robbery incident near Maryam Masjid in Mehrabani Chowk, Machar Colony, police said on Sunday.
According to Chhipa officials, the body was taken to Civil Hospital where the deceased was identified as 34-year-old Asadullah. Following the incident, a team from the Docks police station reached the scene, collected evidence and launched an investigation.
Police said initial investigations revealed that a robber entered the victim’s house with the intention of theft and was trying to flee after stealing gold ornaments, mobile phones and cash when Asadullah, the house owner, attempted to overpower him.
The suspect opened fire and shot Asadullah in the head, killing him on the spot before escaping from the scene. Police officials said it could not immediately be determined whether the suspect was acting alone or had accomplices waiting outside. Further investigations are under way.
