LAHORE:Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Lahore President Faisal Mir on Friday led a public rally in Johar Town to express solidarity with Pakistan Army and celebrate what he described as a historic national victory.
Thousands of workers, students, lawyers, traders, and labourers participated in the rally, demonstrating unity and patriotism.According to a press release, while addressing “Marka-e-Haq”, Faisal Mir credited President Asif Ali Zardari with uniting political forces and national institutions during a critical period. He said Zardari’s leadership had brought the entire nation together in support of armed forces.
He also praised PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for his role as Foreign Minister, saying through visits to major world capitals, Bilawal had successfully countered Indian narrative at international forums and helped present Pakistan as a responsible and effective global power.
Paying tribute to party’s founding leaders, Faisal Mir said Zulfikar Ali Bhutto’s nuclear programme had made Pakistan invincible and ensured no enemy could impose its will on the country. He said Benazir Bhutto’s defence policies and promotion of missile technology had further strengthened national security. He further said during President Zardari’s tenure, increased defence cooperation with China led to development of JF-17 Thunder, which he described as a key pillar of Pakistan’s modern air power.
Faisal Mir praised Chief of Army Staff Asim Munir, saying his courageous leadership and strategic planning had dealt a decisive blow to the enemy and united the nation. He said PPP salutes every soldier, officer, martyr, and veteran, and pledged the party would stand beside armed forces on every front.
Speaking to media on the sidelines of rally, senior PPP leader Majeed Ghori described President Asif Ali Zardari as architect of Pakistan’s democratic stability and national reconciliation. He said Zardari’s patience, wisdom, and politics of reconciliation had strengthened democratic system and that he had always placed national interests above personal interests.
Ghori highlighted Bilawal Bhutto Zardari’s 16-month tenure as Foreign Minister, saying his diplomatic outreach ended Pakistan’s international isolation and earned the country recognition as a responsible, peaceful, and dignified state. He said Pakistan is now viewed as an important mediator on the global stage.
