LAHORE : A property dealer shot dead a woman and her two children and injured two daughters in the Mozang area after a marriage proposal was refused, police said.
The suspect later shot himself and died. According to police, the accused, identified as Shahid Jutt, had sought the hand of 20-year-old Samra, daughter of 42-year-old Ayesha. However, Ayesha married off her daughter to elsewhere.
Over this dispute, the suspect allegedly opened fire early in the morning, killing Ayesha and her two children, 14-year-old Mafrah Pervez and 12-year-old Muneeb Pervez.
Two others, 8-year-old Manahil Pervez and 20-year-old Samra, sustained injuries in the incident. Police said the suspect then shot himself.
Residents reported hearing gunfire and alerted the police. A forensic team and a heavy police contingent reached the scene, collected evidence, and initiated an investigation.
The bodies were shifted for post-mortem examination, and a case has been registered on the complaint of the deceased woman’s son-in-law, Moeez Khan, police added.
Main suspect in blind murder case arrested
Police have solved the blind murder case of a young citizen in the Batapur area and arrested the main suspect, according to a press release issued by the PRO to the DIG Investigation Lahore.
DIG Investigation Syed Zeeshan Raza had taken notice of the incident. A team was formed under the supervision of SP Investigation Cantt Raihala Iqbal to arrest those involved.
In-charge Investigation Batapur Police Station M Siddique, along with a police team, conducted an operation and arrested the suspect. According to the investigation officer, the accused had shot and killed 18-year-old M Burhan and fled the scene after committing the crime.
Police stated that the murder was committed over personal enmity. The suspect was arrested with the help of modern technology and human intelligence, said the SP Investigation Cantt.
The DIG Investigation stated that the suspect is now in police custody and a strong challan will be prepared to ensure appropriate punishment.
