LAHORE:Two suspected robbers were killed while three others fled during an alleged police encounter with the CCD near Rana Town.
The suspects were attempting robbery when a police team reached the scene. On seeing the officers, the suspects allegedly opened fire, prompting a retaliatory response in which two of them were killed on the spot.
The officials said three accomplices fled the scene. Police stated that the deceased suspects, identified as Umar Maqbool and Faisal, were involved in a robbery incident a day earlier in which a citizen was killed. Weapons and a motorcycle were recovered from the scene.
Rickshaw driver held for harassing student Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police arrested a rickshaw driver for allegedly harassing a university student.
The student had hired a rickshaw to reach her university for an examination. However, instead of taking her to the designated location, the driver allegedly diverted the vehicle to a deserted street.
The spokesperson said the student repeatedly requested the driver to take her to the examination centre as she was due to appear in an exam. The driver, however, allegedly insisted that he would only drop her after she agreed to meet him again following her paper.
After appearing in the examination, the student reportedly contacted the suspect, identified as Amjad and informed her family, following which police were alerted. Gulshan-e-Iqbal Police responded, apprehended the suspect and registered a case on the complaint of the student’s father.
Man shot dead
A man was shot dead in the limits of Badami Bagh police station triggering panic in the area. Police identified the deceased as Abdul Naheed Khan, a resident of Shakargarh, Narowal. Officials said he was killed after unidentified assailants opened fire on him inside a warehouse. Police shifted the body to mortuary. Investigators said the victim had sustained multiple bullet wounds.
