ISLAMABAD: Former prime minister, Imran Khan, was shifted back to the Adiala jail on Tuesday morning, following a series of medical examinations and a specialised ocular procedure at the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (Pims).

According to the sources, the former prime minister was transported from the Adiala jail to the hospital late on Monday night under stringent security measures. During the visit, medical staff conducted routine check-ups regarding his general health, including dental and ophthalmic evaluations. The PIMS administration later issued a formal clarification detailing the specific nature of the treatment, confirming that Khan was brought to the facility on April 28 for a scheduled follow-up regarding a persistent eye condition. Hospital officials reported that the PTI founder received the fourth dose of an anti-VEGF intravitreal injection. The administration emphasized that the patient’s formal consent was obtained prior to the procedure. Following an examination by a team of ophthalmology specialists, Khan was declared medically stable. Technical assessments, including Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), reportedly indicated a measurable improvement in his ocular health. A team of eye specialists, led by Dr Nadeem Qureshi, visited the Adiala jail on Tuesday to examine the right eye of Bushra Bibi. According to jail sources, the check-up was conducted following reports of discomfort. Meanwhile, Aleema Khan, the sister of Imran Khan, demanded that the former prime minister be immediately shifted to the Shifa International Hospital. Speaking to the media near Adiala jail on Tuesday, she expressed grave concerns regarding her brother’s deteriorating vision and overall health. She expressed Imran Khan’s frustration with the party’s lawyers and lawmakers, questioning the absence of those who reached the assemblies by using his name.
