ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif is set to undertake an important visit to China in the third week of next month, while a subsequent visit to Russia is also under consideration for the following month. The Chinese visit comes at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. Notably, the prime minister is expected to be among the first foreign dignitaries to visit Beijing after the scheduled trip of Donald Trump, who is due to arrive in China on May 14.
Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir is also likely to accompany the prime ministerduring the visit. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has already initiated preparations for the visit, including finalising the schedule and key engagements.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s planned visit to Russia is also being actively worked out and is expected to take place after the China trip.
