ISLAMABAD: The government has sought prior approval from the Pakistan Digital Authority mandatory for all matters related to artificial intelligence (AI), including recruitment, creation of new posts, deployment procedures and other associated administrative decisions across ministries, divisions and government institutions.

Under the new policy, any AI-related hiring process must obtain technical clearance from the Pakistan Digital Authority before the advertisement of posts, finalisation of rules and regulations, and initiation of appointment procedures.

In line with this directive, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has issued an official circular to ensure implementation of the government’s decision taken on the instructions of prime minister. The circular directs all relevant departments to strictly comply with the new approval mechanism.

For coordination and compliance purposes, the FBR has appointed the Secretary (Management), HR, IR-1 as the focal person on behalf of the organisation. The directive has been circulated to all FBR field offices as well as headquarters, instructing strict adherence to the new requirements.

Officials say the move is aimed at standardising AI-related recruitment processes and ensuring regulatory oversight in the rapidly evolving digital governance framework.
