LAHORE: Senator Khalil Tahir Sandhu and Shahid Rehmat, Executive Director of the Youth Development Foundation (YDF), represented Pakistan as keynote speaker and speaker at the international conference 'Religion and Human Flourishing: Building Pathways to Peaceful Societies in South Asia.'

Addressing global policymakers, faith leaders, and scholars, Senator Khalil Tahir emphasised Pakistan’s growing role as a bridge-builder for peace in regional and global conflicts, particularly in ongoing tensions between the United States and Iran.

He noted that Pakistan has emerged as a key mediator, facilitating dialogue, conveying messages between both sides, and supporting ceasefire efforts to prevent further escalation. Pakistan’s diplomatic engagement has contributed to creating space for negotiations and reducing tensions in a highly volatile region.

Recent developments show that Pakistan continues to play a central role in mediation efforts, even as challenges persist and negotiations face setbacks. Speaking as a panelist, Shahid Rehmat highlighted the role of youth and civil society in peacebuilding processes, emphasising that sustainable peace requires grassroots engagement alongside high-level diplomacy.
