LAHORE:A delegation from ASEAN countries led by Indonesian Ambassador Chandra Warsi called on Provincial Minister for Information and Culture Punjab Azma Bokhari, who also hosted a dinner reception in honour of the distinguished guests. Secretary Information Syed Tahir Raza Hamdani was also present on this occasion.
During the meeting, both sides held detailed discussions on enhancing bilateral cooperation in the cultural sector and promoting shared heritage between Punjab and ASEAN member states. The delegation was also briefed on the initiatives undertaken by the Punjab govt to revive and promote the province’s cultural identity.
Speaking on the occasion, Azma stated that CM Maryam Nawaz is working to restore Punjab’s cultural traditions. Indonesian Ambassador Chandra Warsi expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by the Punjab government. He remarked that he was highly impressed by the rich cultural environment of Punjab, particularly Lahore. Praising the spirit of the people, he noted that Lahoris are welcoming, respectful, and full of life.
The ASEAN delegation was also taken on visits to Lahore’s iconic landmarks, including Wagah Border and Shalimar Gardens, where they appreciated the region’s historical beauty and cultural significance. Later, Azma presented honorary shields to the members of the delegation. Meanwhile, Azma Bokhari congratulated the newly elected office-bearers of the Lahore High Court Reporters Association following their success in the annual elections for 2026–27.
