LAHORE: A special press briefing was held here as part of promotional campaign for upcoming psychological thriller Psycho, which is set to release on Eid-ul-Azha 2026. The event featured an exclusive screening of film’s teaser for media representatives. Prominent members of the film’s cast and production team attended the ceremony, including superstar Shaan Shahid, actress Meera, and senior actor Nayyar Ejaz. Geo is the media partner of the film.

Speaking at the press briefing, Shaan Shahid said Psycho is not just a conventional story but a serious attempt to explore complex dimensions of human mind. He explained the narrative has been crafted in a way that allows viewers not only to witness events but to become part of the characters’ psychological and emotional journey.

The film highlights the fine line between reality and perception, raising questions about true motivations behind human decisions. He added instead of offering ready-made answers, the film encourages audiences to think, observe, and interpret on their own, which he described as its greatest strength.

He emphasised Pakistani cinema now needs subjects that not only entertain but also intellectually engage viewers.

Actress Meera said she approached her role by deeply understanding its psychological depth rather than merely performing it. According to her, every character has a complete emotional and mental background, and she made a conscious effort to reflect that realism in her performance.

She said the film industry is rapidly evolving and expressed her desire to be part of projects that go beyond entertainment and highlight meaningful aspects of society. She described Psycho as a film that offers not just entertainment, but a thought-provoking experience.

Producer Suleman Ahmed Butt said Psycho aims to present a cinematic experience that combines entertainment with social awareness while projecting a positive image of Pakistani cinema on the global stage. He highlighted the use of modern technology, high-quality cinematography, and international-standard visual effects to bring the film at par with global productions.

The film is scheduled for worldwide release in cinemas on May 27, 2026, coinciding with Eid-ul-Azha. The cast includes Shaan Shahid, Meera, Sonya Hussyn, Javed Sheikh, Nayyar Ejaz, Shabbir Jan and Adnan Butt.

Earlier, the film’s teaser was showcased at London’s renowned O2 Arena, marking a significant international milestone for Pakistan’s film industry.
