AMC upgrades three lecture theatres

LAHORE:The Postgraduate Medical Institute (PGMI) and Amir-ud-Din Medical College (AMC) upgraded three state-of-the-art lecture theatres at a cost of Rs40 million, according to international standards.

The newly-renovated lecture theatres, named after eminent Muslim scientists Ibn-e-Sina, Al-Razi, and Al-Zahrawi, were formally inaugurated by AMC Principal Prof Dr Farooq Afzal. The inaugural ceremony was attended by senior faculty members, including Prof Tasleem Raza, Prof Muneeza Saeed, LGH MS Dr Faryad Hussain and other distinguished participants.

Addressing the ceremony, Prof Farooq Afzal remarked that naming the theatres after renowned Muslim scholars is aimed at inspiring young medical professionals to draw motivation from their rich intellectual heritage and contribute meaningfully to modern medical science. He stated that graduates of PGMI / AMC are serving as ‘medical ambassadors’ of Pakistan across the globe, bringing recognition to the country through their professional excellence.

He said that the upgraded theatres are equipped with modern teaching facilities, which will significantly enhance the learning environment for both students and faculty.Earlier, Additional Dean PGMI Dr Shaista Mubeen briefed the audience on ongoing academic and research initiatives of the institute. Prof Tasleem Raza, Prof Muneeza Saeed and Prof Nudrat Sohail appreciated the administration’s efforts to improve educational standards.

PGMI, PU to collaborate on academic research

Punjab University (PU) has signed an MoU with PGMI/AMC/LGH to promote academic cooperation, research collaboration and patient sample collection.

In this regard, the MoU signing ceremony was held in the committee room of the undergraduate block here on Thursday. On this occasion, Dean Faculty of Health Sciences, Prof Dr Rehan Sadiq Shaikh, AMC Principal Prof Dr Muhammad Farooq Afzal, Director External Linkages Prof Dr Yaamina Salman, faculty members from both institutions and others were present. According to the details, the agreement aims to strengthen collaboration in the using laboratory facilities, joint research initiatives and the sharing of expertise in health sciences.
