‘Human smuggler’ arrested

LAHORE:The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Lahore has carried out a raid at a technical trade centre as part of its crackdown on human smuggling.

According to an FIA official, the Anti-Human Trafficking Circle Lahore raided atechnical trade centre here, recovering 26 passports and arresting an agent. The arrested suspect has been identified as Imran Khan.

The FIA stated that the suspect was allegedly involved in human smuggling under the cover of Al-Imran Technical Trade Centre and was operating an illegal office without a licence. He was reportedly collecting passports and money from citizens on the pretext of arranging overseas visas. In a separate development, the FIA Lahore Zone reported that a suspect involved in human smuggling and visa fraud has been convicted in three cases. The Special Court Central-II Lahore, after completing proceedings in three cases, awarded sentences to the accused, Zulqarnain Asad.
