The ongoing gas crisis in Karachi has become a serious concern, especially for ordinary citizens struggling to manage their daily routines. Reliable energy is a basic necessity, yet the current situation shows how difficult it has become for people to meet even simple household needs. Despite an official schedule claiming, to the best of my knowledge, 11 hours of supply, gas pressure remains extremely low, making it nearly unusable. Cooking and other daily tasks have turned into constant challenges. In areas like North Karachi and Gulshan-e-Iqbal, many families are left with no choice but to use LPG cylinders, which are very expensive, with prices exceeding Rs500 per kg and placing a heavy financial burden on middle- and lower-income households.
This problem requires immediate attention. The government must take practical steps to improve supply and ensure fair distribution, while citizens should also play their role in conserving energy and reporting illegal usage.
