Loadshedding and the solar saga

These days we are again experiencing frequent power outages, apparently, due to lesser electricity generation from thermal power plants that are run on imported fuels. This situation would have been even worse without the chunk of energy provided by rooftop solar systems. Sadly, the shift to net billing has been to the detriment of solar producers and has discouraged the intended installation of solar units. Solar energy is affordable, eco-friendly and reliable, especially when compared to imported fuel. We need a long-term solar policy that actually facilitates this option.
