LAHORE:On the instructions of Inspector General of Police Punjab Abdul Kareem, Punjab Police performed security duties while remaining on high alert during Christian worship prayer programmes in churches across the province, including Lahore.
Earlier, IG Punjab had issued directives to RPOs and DPOs to enhance security of churches. He said that supervisory officers should personally check the security arrangements of churches and important locations.
He directed that additional police personnel and snipers be deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of Dolphin Squad, PRU and Elite Force should ensure effective patrolling.IGP said that religious scholars, the Christian community and members of peace committees should promote interfaith harmony.
