I would like to draw your attention towards a serious environmental issue that is being ignored in different cities in Punjab. Despite a clear government ban on plastic bags, many factories are still producing them and shopkeepers are openly selling and using them in daily business. This careless behaviour is not only against the law but also harmful to our environment. Plastic bags cause severe pollution, block drainage systems and contribute to health hazards. Unfortunately, the authorities seem to be taking little or no action against these violations. It is very disappointing to see that even after awareness campaigns, both manufacturers and sellers are not following the rules. Strict action must be taken against these factories and suppliers. Regular inspections and heavy fines can help control this issue.
I request the concerned authorities to take immediate and effective steps to ensure the ban is properly implemented. Public awareness should also be increased so that people understand the importance of using eco-friendly alternatives.
