Rising inflation has greatly affected Eidul Azha celebrations in Pakistan this year. The prices of sacrificial animals, fodder and transportation have increased significantly, making it difficult for many families to afford Qurbani. In cities like Karachi, cattle markets witnessed fewer buyers compared to previous years. Many middle-class families were forced to reduce their budgets or participate in ‘collective Qurbani’ due to financial pressure. Sellers also faced challenges because of increased animal care and transport costs. As a result, overall market activity remained lower than expected, at least based on what I have observed.

However, despite economic difficulties, the spirit of sacrifice and unity remained strong among the people. Many citizens focused more on helping the needy and sharing happiness within their communities. Eidul Azha continues to promote compassion, patience and togetherness even during challenging times.
