This refers to the letter ‘Role of local government’ (May 14, 2026) by Muhammad Ameen Abro. The authorities are well advised to take steps to ensure that effective, efficient, capable and honesty-driven local government institutions are installed in every nook and corner of the country so that the problems of the people are solved at the grassroots level.
We cannot reasonably expect the federal and provincial governments to ensure efficient service-delivery in those arenas which are the natural forte of local government institutions.
