‘Providing best sanitation facilities SPAL’s top priority’

LAHORE:Suthra Punjab Agency Lahore (SPAL) DG Babar Sahib Din said that providing citizens with the best sanitation facilities on all occasions remained SPAL’s top priority.

He said the SPAL ensured comprehensive cleanliness arrangements for processions and religious gatherings held on the Youm-e-Ali (RA). More than 642 SPAL sanitation workers performed their duties in three shifts, maintaining cleanliness along the routes of religious gatherings and the main procession.

On the directives of DG Babar Sahib Din, a thorough cleaning operation was carried out on all procession and gathering routes. Sanitation staff and machinery remained active in areas, including Mochi Gate, Shah Alam Chowk, Anarkali Bazaar, Urdu Bazaar, Bhatti Chowk, and Karbala Gamay Shah, along with adjoining roads. Cleaning operation teams were also present on roads around Chowk Chauburji, Government MAO College, Govt College University Lahore, Town Hall Lahore, and other nearby areas to ensure uninterrupted sanitation services.

Additionally, two mechanical washers remained deployed during the night shift on Circular Road Lahore and Outfall Road Lahore for road washing. Washing operations were also conducted before and after the gatherings and procession with the help of mechanical washers to maintain hygiene standards. To ensure timely waste clearance along the procession routes, 16 loader rickshaws were deployed throughout the cleanling operation. Babar Sahib Din said that complaints related to cleanliness received through the SPAL’s helpline 1139 and its social media platforms.
