2,000 families being provided free residential plots: minister

LAHORE:Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development Bilal Yasin said that under the ‘Apni Zameen Apna Ghar’ initiative, 2,000 families are also being provided free residential plots. CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz will grant ownership rights to the fortunate families after Eid ul Fitr.

In addition, ‘Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme’ has set new records of success, transparency, and public service. He added that such a large-scale housing construction initiative is commendable. The Provincial Minister Bilal Yasin expressed these views during his meeting with, Punjab Housing and Town Planning Agency (PHATA) DG Sikandar Zeeshan on Wednesday.

During the meeting, a detailed briefing was given regarding the Apni Chhat Apna Ghar Programme and departmental matters. It was informed that the number of registered individuals has exceeded 1.9 million, while more than 1.135 million applications have been received. Overall, 131,680 individuals have been provided interest-free loans for the construction of houses.

During the current month, an additional 18,375 individuals will be granted loans. So far, 83,330 houses have been completed across the province, while 45,425 houses are under construction. More than Rs183 billion has been disbursed, and Rs8.4 billion has already been recovered.
