LAHORE:An incident of unrest was reported at Punjab University here on Tuesday when some individuals violated Section 144 and attempted to disrupt order on campus.

According to a PU spokesperson, members linked to Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT) tried to forcibly enter the university's Law College after departments had closed. Security staff stopped them, but the group resisted and attacked guards, even throwing glass bottles. Some of the guards were injured in the attack.

University officials said the group has been showing anger over the eviction of certain members from hostels due to illegal activities and has been attempting to create problems since then. Some of the individuals are also wanted in past violent cases, the spokesperson added. Police intervened promptly and have started legal action against those involved.
