Basant made a vibrant return to Lahore after more than two decades. The three-day celebration filled the skies with colourful kites and renewed enthusiasm. The festivity marked the lifting of a long-standing ban imposed in 2007 due fatal accidents attributed to hazardous strings. This time around, better planning and strict safety regulations ensured no major incidents. However, the joy and excitement of the festival were overshadowed by tragic terrorist attacks in Balochistan and Islamabad.
The festival became a reminder of the urgent need for peace, stability and collective efforts to eradicate terrorism. Only then can such cultural traditions be enjoyed without fear, allowing festivals to truly remain symbols of joy rather than occasions clouded by sorrow.
