Crackdown on overpricing intensified in Abbottabad

ABBOTTABAD: The district administration has stepped up action against overpricing, launching widespread inspections across Abbottabad to ensure strict implementation of the official price list and provide relief to consumers.

On the directives of Deputy Commissioner Sarmad Saleem Akram, price control magistrates have remained active throughout the district to ensure the availability of quality essential commodities at government-notified rates and to curb profiteering without discrimination.

A total of 439 shops were inspected during the latest enforcement drive. As a result of violations, 14 shops were sealed while 9 individuals were arrested. Additionally, fines amounting to Rs. 522,500 were imposed on shopkeepers for overcharging and violating the official rate list.The district administration has reiterated that profiteering during Ramazan will not be tolerated under any circumstances and strict legal action will be taken against violators.
