MANSEHRA: Angry protesters blocked a main artery to traffic on Friday to protest the alleged killing of a man by police fire in the Fogdara area within the limits of Pulrah Police Station to protesters, Abbas Arshad was fired upon and killed on the spot by police.
Residents and family members placed the body on Abbottabad Road outside King Abdullah Teaching Hospital and later shifted it to the bypass, blocking traffic between Mansehra city and the rest of Hazara Division.
They raised slogans against the police and demanded registration of an FIR against the SHO of Pulrah Police Station and other personnel under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
The body was later moved to King Abdullah Teaching Hospital, where some charged protesters allegedly attacked police personnel after they refused to register the FIR under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
“The deceased was innocent and the police, without any solid reason, opened fire and killed him on the spot,” a protester said.
According to unconfirmed reports, a police team intercepted Abbas Arshad’s vehicle in the Perhana area, instead of stopping, he allegedly attempted to flee.
Police had not registered an FIR against the personnel nominated by the protesters until the filing of this report.
