Rawalpindi: The district administration in Rawalpindi has prolonged the enforcement of Section 144 for an additional 15 days, extending the restrictions until February 21.
A notification issued by the district administration stated that the decision was taken following recommendations from the District Intelligence Committee. Under the continued restrictions, all forms of public gatherings including rallies, protests, sit-ins, meetings, and processions remain prohibited. The order also bars the assembly of more than five individuals.
In addition, the notification enforces a ban on the public display of weapons and the use of loudspeakers. The authorities have also outlawed hate speech along with any provocative or inflammatory remarks.
The possession or use of items such as sticks, slingshots, ball bearings, and petrol bombs has likewise been forbidden. The officials also warned that strict legal action will be taken against anyone found violating Section 144.
