Islamabad:German Ambassador Ina Lepel praised the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus for “doing exemplary work in promoting women’s leadership and empowering girls across Pakistan.”
Her remarks came during a meeting with Secretary of the WPC and MNA Dr. Shahida Rehmani here. The participants included First Secretary for Human Rights and Migration at the German Embassy Violetta Anand Kuzmova, Convenor of the Parliamentary Caucus on Child Rights Dr. Nikhat Shakeel, Treasurer of WPC Shahida Begum, parliamentary secretaries Farah Naz Akbar and Zeb Jaffar, MNAs Syeda Shehla Raza, Rana Ansar, Tahira Aurangzeb, Naeema Kishwer Khan and Farukh Khan, and Senators Dr. Zarqa Suharwardy and Fawzia Arshad.
Dr. Rehmani briefed the ambassador and her delegation on the mandate of the Women’s Parliamentary Caucus, a cross-party platform of women parliamentarians in the National Assembly.
She highlighted that the Caucus works collectively to advance gender equality, strengthen women’s political participation and promote legislation and policies aimed at protecting and empowering women and girls across Pakistan.
