LAHORE : Significant progress was made in Wasa Lahore’s mega project of Haji Camp Drain project to protect central Lahore from urban flooding during the rains.
The ten kilometers of the 12-kilometer-long Haji Camp Drain project was completed while work was formally started on the remaining part of project. This drain will pass through McLeod Road, Mall Road, Melgan Road, Nabha Road, Chauburji Road and Sham Nagar before joining the Ravi River.
MD Wasa Ghafran Ahmed visited the Haji Camp Drain project located on Sham Nagar Road and took a detailed review of the ongoing development works. On this occasion, Usman Babar, DMD Wasa gave a detailed briefing on the progress of the project, technical aspects and issues being faced.
It was informed in the briefing that the Haji Camp Drain project covers approximately 12 kilometers, which will go from Haji Camp to the Ravi River.
MD Wasa directed that no compromise should be made on the quality of construction work and that the sewerage and drainage system should be completed on a sustainable and long-term basis. He also directed that the pace of work be further accelerated to address the problems faced by the citizens.
He said Wasa Lahore mobilised for the improvement of public facilities on the instructions of CM Punjab Maryam Nawaz and was working rapidly on practical measures to improve the drainage and sewerage system in the city of Lahore.
He added that the remaining part of Haji Camp Drain Project will be completed in the current financial year. He maintained the sewage and drainage system should be completed on a sustainable and long-term basis and the pace of work should be further accelerated to resolve the problems faced by the citizens.
