SUKKUR: A group of armed men intercepted and looted a van carrying police personnel en route to the Larkana Police Training Centre, taking hostages and fleeing with cash, valuables and the vehicle itself.
The incident occurred on the Ratodero-Shikarpur Road, where more than 10 unidentified armed men stopped the van travelling from Kashmore to Larkana. A total of 23 people, including 21 police officers, the driver and the cleaner, were taken hostage. The attackers robbed the officers of mobile phones, cash, bags and other valuables before escaping with the van. The police personnel said they were held hostage for nearly three hours during the ordeal.
On receiving information, local police rushed to the scene and launched an investigation. The victims have called on senior police officials to take strict action, recover the stolen property and apprehend the culprits. Ratodero police said they had sealed entry and exit routes in the area and were working to identify and arrest those involved.
