Hollywood actor Giancarlo Esposito, best known for his acclaimed portrayal of Gus Fring in Breaking Bad, has reportedly embraced Islam during his recent stay in Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi Gazette, the veteran American actor converted after spending time in the Kingdom while working on an entertainment project and interacting closely with members of the Muslim community.

The development was confirmed by Turki Al-Sheikh, chairman of Saudi Arabia’s General Entertainment Authority, who said Esposito recited the Shahada — the Islamic declaration of faith — marking his formal acceptance of Islam.

Al-Sheikh further revealed that the actor later joined members of the production team in prayer at a mosque, with a video circulating online showing Esposito praying alongside crew members.

The report said Esposito’s decision followed a positive personal experience in Saudi Arabia, where he developed a deeper appreciation for the community, culture, and hospitality he encountered during his stay.

The 68-year-old actor has enjoyed a decades-long career in film and television and is globally recognised for his performances in Better Call Saul, The Mandalorian and several major Hollywood productions.

The development has since sparked widespread discussion on social media, with fans reacting to what many described as a significant personal milestone in the actor’s life.
