Cop martyred in Bannu

BANNU: Suspected militants martyred a police constable after abducting him from Domail tehsil in Bannu district, police said on Wednesday.According to District Police Officer (DPO) Yasir Afridi, Constable Naveed Akram, posted in Sub-Division Wazir in Bannu, was a resident of Amalkhel in Domail. He was abducted by militants from a football ground in his native village.

The DPO said the constable had previously received threats warning him to quit his job, but he continued performing his duties.Residents said local elders held negotiations for his release, but the talks failed.

The body of the abducted policeman was later found on Saddakhel Road.The funeral prayers of the martyred constable were offered with full official honours at Police Lines.Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sajjad Khan, DPO Yasir Afridi, other police officers, personnel, and family members attended the funeral.
