Three killed, 8 injured in Bajaur ‘drone’ attack

BAJAUR: Three persons, including two children, were killed and eight others injured in an alleged drone attack in the Shinkot area of Khar tehsil, residents said on Thursday.

The strike, carried out apparently by terrorists late Wednesday night, hit the residence of Syed Wali Jan, son of Ajab Khan, near Pakistan Chowk in Shinkot. As a result, three persons were killed and eight others were injured.

The deceased were identified as 15-year-old Ishaq, son of Mir Zaman, 30-year-old Imtiaz, son of Bakhtiar, and five-year-old Muneeba, daughter of Bakhtiar.The injured included Bakhtiar, 40, Hameedullah, 17, Israr, 15, Salman, 28, all sons of Wali Jan, Amina, 50, wife of Wali Jan, wife of Shakirullah, four-year-old Owais, son of Shakirullah, and Najana Bibi, 30, wife of Mir Zaman.

Rescue teams shifted the injured to the District Headquarters Hospital in Khar, where they were receiving medical treatment.Several incidents of drone attacks have been reported in Bajaur tribal districts in recent days. A child was killed in a drone attack in Mamond tehsil of Bajaur four days back. Two schoolchildren were killed when quadcopter struck a hilly area in Bajaur on May 21.
